12 x 9 Oil on Panel
In the neighborhood I grew up in stands this tree, full of character and intrigue. I passed it many times through my life, in all stages of it’s growth. Every winter I would desire to paint it’s gnarled frame, but winter after winter I never got around to it. Finally I made time for this patient subject, bearing the cold and the stiffness of my paints. The result is a portrait of a kindly old tree, the center of many childhood haunts.
