18 x 24 Oil on Linen
I have always been fascinated at how light behaves as it falls over shadows. It lightens them, and creates such fascinating colors. This painting was inspired by seeing the sunrise every morning out my studio window. The light falls over the mountains and is breathtaking. When I saw this scene while driving over the mountain to Red Canyon that initial inspiration turned to compulsion and I had to paint it. I did a study on location and this painting later in the studio. I hope you enjoy the morning light as much as I did.
